Migrations - New Mixed-Media Work by Sara Getts with Ceramics by Carole DeGrave

Migrations by Sara Gettys opens on Saturday. The show, built around the theme of life transitions, includes several series of individual pieces displayed as installations and incorporates the use of many mediums. Most of the pieces are mixed media, utilizing paper, acrylic, thread, wood, vintage photographs and plaster. "Up The Down Ladder, " a series of sculptural pieces constructed of plaster, explores individuals' journeys towards their own definitions of success, while the show's title piece, "Migrations," portrays a journey from childhood to old age in a series of small scale -- none over 6" in height or width -- mixed media pieces. Viewers are invited to consider the impact of the series as a whole as well as step up close to examine the detail of single pieces in all of the series.

While individual pieces will be available for sale, the show is an opportunity to see each in the context of the series for which it was create.

The show runs through September 7th and will feature ceramics by Carole DeGrave.
